      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p><bold>Purpose.</bold> The work is aimed at studying the multi-scale features of the distribution of hydro-optical and hydrological characteristics in the Antarctic Sound based on the contact and satellite measurements in January 2022 in the 87th cruise of the R/V Akademik Mstislav Keldysh.</p>
        <p><bold>Methods and Results.</bold> The data of complex in situ measurements carried out at drifting stations in the Antarctic Sound on January 27–28, 2022 within the 87th cruise of the R/V Akademik Mstislav Keldysh were used. Additionally, satellite data were used. Using a complex of sounding hydrophysical equipment, vertical profiles of temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll a concentration, fluorescence intensity of colored dissolved organic matter, beam attenuation coefficient at a wavelength of 660 nm and photosynthetically active radiation were obtained. Based on the obtained data, the main features of mesoscale circulation within the cyclic gyre over the deep basin of the southern part of the strait were determined. The joint analysis of hydro-optical, hydrological characteristics and satellite measurements in the Antarctic Sound obtained in the Antarctic expedition showed the presence of a system of alternating anticyclonic and cyclonic eddies. It is also shown that in the area of drifting ice contaminated with terrestrial soil or bottom sediments of the shelf, a zone of increased turbidity is formed, associated with the supply of terrigenous suspended matter to the water during the melting of contaminated ice.</p>
        <p><bold>Conclusions.</bold> The system of multi-scale eddies and currents in the Antarctic Sound promotes exchange between the waters of the upper and deep layers of the strait, as well as between the waters of the Weddell Sea, spreading north-northwest along the slope of the strait basin adjacent to the edge of the Antarctic Peninsula shelf, and the waters of the Bransfield Strait, spreading along the slope of the island shelf – the northeastern boundary of the strait.</p>

      <trans-abstract xml:lang="ru">
        <p><bold>Цель.</bold> Цель работы – исследование разномасштабных особенностей распределения гидрооптических и гидрологических характеристик в проливе Антарктика по данным контактных и спутниковых измерений в январе 2022 г. в 87-м рейсе НИС «Академик Мстислав Келдыш».</p>
        <p><bold>Методы и результаты.</bold> Использовались данные комплексных натурных измерений, выполненных на дрейфовых станциях в проливе Антарктика 27–28 января 2022 г. в рамках 87-го рейса НИС «Академик Мстислав Келдыш». Дополнительно использовались спутниковые данные. С применением комплекса зондирующей гидрофизической аппаратуры получены вертикальные профили температуры, солености, растворенного кислорода, концентрации хлорофилла a, интенсивности флуоресценции окрашенного растворенного органического вещества, показателя ослабления направленного света на длине волны 660 нм и фотосинтетически активной радиации. На основе полученных данных определены основные особенности мезомасштабной циркуляции в пределах циклического круговорота над глубокой впадиной южной части пролива. Совместный анализ полученных в антарктической экспедиции гидрооптических, гидрологических характеристик и спутниковых измерений в проливе Антарктика показал наличие системы чередующихся антициклонических и циклонических вихрей. Также показано, что в области дрейфа льда, загрязненного грунтом суши или донными осадками шельфа, образуется зона повышенной мутности, связанная с поступлением в воду терригенной взвеси при таянии загрязненного льда.</p>
        <p><bold>Выводы.</bold> Система разномасштабных вихрей и течений в проливе Антарктика способствует обмену между водами верхнего и глубинного слоев пролива, а также между водами моря Уэдделла, распространяющимися на северо-северо-запад вдоль склона котловины пролива, прилегающего к кромке шельфа Антарктического п-ова, и водами пролива Браснфилда, распространяющимися вдоль склона шельфа островов – северо-восточной границы пролива.</p>
